HoldFast vs Swayable for a small video team
Swayable is campaign-scale measurement with a sales conversation at the door. HoldFast is the same randomised shape, sized for a team deciding between two cuts, with the price on screen.
Swayable tests content using randomized controlled trials on tens of thousands of verified respondents, and reports brand lift with impact metrics, emotional responses and qualitative feedback. HoldFast audience testing is built around the same idea at a different size: two versions, two fresh groups, one version per person, a verdict on a question you chose before launch. The honest way to compare them is scale and door, not method.
What Swayable is
Swayable's own description is the right one: rigorous randomized controlled trials on tens of thousands of verified human respondents, with brand lift results in 24 hours. The product is built for brands and agencies running campaigns, where the question is how much a piece of content moved persuasion or lift across a large population, with a control group to measure against. Every plan comes with dedicated data science support, which is the right thing to want when the stakes are a media budget.
Where the methods agree
More than you might expect. Both assign each participant to a version at random, so the groups are comparable before anyone presses play. Both use a control group when the question is lift: HoldFast's brand lift study measures a finished piece against a group that saw nothing. Both are honest about what a small sample can and cannot say. In HoldFast that honesty is built into the verdict vocabulary. The report says one version outperformed the other only when every version reached the size committed at launch and drop-off was balanced. Otherwise it says directional advantage, or too close to call, and it frames the last one as information rather than failure. Only people who finished the video count.
The scale is where they part. Swayable is measuring tens of thousands. A HoldFast test is sized by you in the wizard, from a few dozen people up, and the claim it makes is sized to match.
The door
Swayable's pricing page has three plans, Basic, Pro and Enterprise, and each one sits behind a Contact Sales button. There is no public price. For a brand running a campaign that is the normal way to buy research, and the sales conversation is where the study gets designed.
HoldFast has no sales conversation. The wizard walks through the two versions, the question set, the audience, and the size, then shows the exact price. A short recruited test runs about 4 credits per person, one credit being one dollar; 24 people is around 100 credits. A paid test has a floor of 25 credits. A longer video or a narrower audience costs more per person, the quote reflects that, nothing is charged until you approve, and unfilled seats are refunded at settle. A test sent to your own list through a share link costs nothing.
The HoldFast quote step: the exact price, on screen, before anything is charged.
What HoldFast does not have
Say it plainly. HoldFast does not run tens of thousands of respondents per test, does not offer data science support on the account, and does not produce customised impact metrics for a campaign. It produces a written report: The Bottom Line first, then In Their Words with real attributed participant comments, then By the Numbers.
Who should pick which
Pick Swayable when the question is campaign-scale measurement: how much a piece of content moved a population, with a control group and a team to help design and read the study.
Pick HoldFast when you are a production company or a small team deciding between two cuts this week, you want the price before you decide, and the answer needs to sit on the review link you send the client. Same shape of test, sized for that decision.
Questions
Does HoldFast run randomised controlled trials?
Every HoldFast test assigns each participant to one version at random, and the brand lift study adds a control group that sees nothing at all. That is the same shape. What HoldFast does not offer is Swayable's scale, or a data science team on the account.
Is there a price on the Swayable site?
Not as of our check. Basic, Pro and Enterprise each sit behind a Contact Sales button. HoldFast quotes the exact price in the wizard before launch, with a floor of 25 credits on a paid test.
