How to send a video for review
Send any cut for frame-accurate feedback in under a minute. Your reviewers never make an account.
Updated
Getting eyes on a cut shouldn't take longer than the note you're hoping to get back. In HoldFast a review link is a 60-second job: pick the assets, flip on comments, copy the link, send it. Your reviewer clicks it and lands on a clean, branded page. No account, no download, no "which app do I open this in." They scrub, they pause, they type a note, and it pins itself to the exact frame. This guide walks the whole path, from your project to their first timecoded comment.
1. Pick your assets
There are two ways in. From the Review Links tab, click + New Review Link and add clips from any project. Or, faster: inside a project, tick the clips you want and hit Create Review Link in the bulk action bar. The link opens pre-loaded with your selection.
Start from Review Links, or from a project selection, then pick the cuts to include.
A single link can carry one cut or a whole batch (a hero plus its cutdowns, say). Drag to reorder; the order is the order your reviewer sees.
2. Set comments and access
Flip on comments, set any access rules, and copy the link.
- Allow comments: on by default. This is what turns a share link into a review link.
- Password: optional. It's enforced on *everything* behind the link, not just the front page (see Password-protect and expire a review link).
- Expiry: optional. Presets for 24 hours / 7 / 30 days, or a custom date.
- Allow downloads: off by default; turn it on to let the reviewer pull the original or a specific quality.
3. Copy and send
Click Copy Link and paste it wherever you already talk to your client (email, Slack, a text). There's nothing for them to install and no seat to buy; external reviewers are always free.
4. What the reviewer sees
What the reviewer sees: a clean branded page, no account, notes pinned to the frame.
The reviewer lands on your branded page, presses play, and scrubs the cut. When they pause and type, the note pins to that exact frame, so instead of "around 0:30 the lower-third feels late," you get a comment sitting on frame 0:29:14. They can draw on the frame, reply to each other, and mark notes resolved. No login the entire time.
5. Where the feedback lands
Every note flows back to the asset inside HoldFast, timecoded and threaded, ready to action. Change the cut? Drag the re-export onto the asset and the same link now plays the fix. Your reviewer never touches a new URL. Comments stay pinned to the version they were made on.
