Embed a reel on your website

Drop your reel onto any site with an iframe, a script tag, or a web component, branded or naked.

Updated

Your reel doesn't have to live only at its HoldFast link. You can drop it straight into your own site: a portfolio page, an about section, a landing page, so visitors watch your best work without leaving your domain. HoldFast gives you three ways to embed the same gallery, and lets you show it branded or stripped bare to match the page around it.

Open the embed options

  1. Open the reel in the editor.
  2. Click Embed in the Publish section.
  3. Choose your layout, display, and branding.
  4. Copy the code from your preferred format tab.
  5. Paste it into your site's HTML.

There's a Preview in the modal, so you can see exactly how the gallery will look before it touches your site.

Pick a format

Three formats, same gallery, different ways to drop it in:

  • iframe: the simplest, works everywhere. Paste one block of code into any HTML page.
  • Script tag: lightweight and auto-initializing. Add the script plus a container div.
  • Web component: a <holdfast-reel> custom element you configure with attributes.

If you're pasting into a Squarespace code block or a WordPress custom HTML block, the iframe is the safest bet. Developers building a custom site tend to reach for the script tag or web component.

Choose a layout and look

Two layouts cover most pages:

  • Grid: a thumbnail grid with configurable columns (2 to 4). Click any thumbnail to play.
  • Gallery: a horizontal filmstrip with one large player, and a configurable number of visible thumbnails.

Then set the details. Show or hide the title and duration on each thumbnail, and choose Brand Kit mode (your logo, colours, and footer) or Naked (transparent, no branding) so the gallery blends into the design you've already built. Whichever you pick, every clip is ready to watch in seconds and streams smoothly on any device.

Password-protected reels still hold

Embedding doesn't punch a hole in your access control. If the reel has a password, the embedded gallery prompts for it before any content loads, exactly as it does at the public link.

Once it's live on your site, keep the page on-brand with a branded reel, or start a fresh one with How to make a showreel.
