Run an Offer Resonance test

Which framing of the same offer lands better: the discount, the bundle, the value message, rated by people meeting it cold.

Updated

The same offer can be told several ways, and the telling changes how it lands. This set compares two tellings.

What it measures

The primary question is a 1 to 7 rating of how appealing the offer was, and the verdict is decided on the average for each version. A clarity check and an open improvement question sit under it. The card labels this set as built from measurement principles rather than drawn from a specific body of research.

What people are asked

  • "How appealing was the offer in this video?" on a 1 to 7 scale from "Not at all appealing" to "Very appealing". This is the question the verdict rests on.
  • "Was the offer clear?" as a yes or no.
  • "What would make the offer more appealing?" in their own words.

The clarity question is worth watching. An offer that scores low on appeal but also reads as unclear is usually a communication problem rather than a bad deal.

When to pick it

Pick this when the offer framing is what changed: percentage off against money off, a bundle against a single item, a value message against a price message. Skip it when there is no offer in the creative, because this is not a general appeal test and it will measure nothing. If the ask rather than the deal is the variable, use Call-to-Action Clarity. If you want the broader read on whether the version moves people to buy, that is Purchase Intent.

What the verdict looks like

A winner on the appeal rating needs both groups at the size committed at launch, balanced dropout, and a gap that stands clear of chance. Short of that you get a directional advantage or "too close to call". See Understanding your verdict.

What it cannot tell you

Stated offer appeal is not willingness to pay. This is not a pricing study, and it cannot tell you what to charge, what discount depth is efficient, or where a threshold sits. It compares two ways of saying the same thing to people who are not buying anything, which is a narrower and more honest claim than a price test.
