Signup says you need an invite
Why signup asks for an invite, the two ways in that work today, and what to do if you already have an account.
HoldFast is in early access, so creating a brand new workspace needs an invite. Joining someone else's workspace, and opening anything shared with you, does not.
What you're seeing
You fill in the signup form and get HoldFast is in early access. Request an invite at holdfast.video/get-started, or bring a Vimeo library across with the free importer and start today. The form does not proceed.
Why it happens
New workspaces are invite-only during early access, and the check runs on our side rather than in the browser, so every route into a new workspace is covered.
That includes signing up with email, signing in with Google, and creating a second workspace from an account you already have. There is no version of the form that skips it.
Fix it
There are two ways in today.
Request an invite. Ask at holdfast.video/get-started. Tell us roughly what you edit and how big your team is, since we are letting people in a few at a time and matching the product to real workflows as we go.
Or bring a Vimeo library across. The free desktop importer is an open door: start an import and you can create your workspace immediately, no invite needed. See Leaving Vimeo. Your Vimeo password never reaches us, and you can import as little as a single video.
If you already have an account
Two cases people hit:
- You were invited to a team. That invitation adds you to an existing workspace, and its link takes you straight there. If you end up on the general signup page, you are creating a new workspace instead, which needs its own invite. Open the original invitation email again.
- You want a second workspace. An existing account does not carry an invite with it. Creating an additional workspace needs an invite of its own, so ask us and we will sort it.
Still stuck
If you have an invite and it is not being accepted, check for a trailing space when pasting it, and that you are using the email address the invite was sent to. If it still fails, reply to the invitation email and we will look from our side.
Questions
Do I need an invite to review a video someone sent me?
No. Review links, reels, and presentations open without an account at all. An invite is only needed to create your own workspace. If a client sent you a link, open it and you are in.
I was invited to a team but signup still asks for an invite. Why?
A team invite adds you to someone else's existing workspace, and that link goes straight to joining it. If you land on the general signup page instead, you are trying to create a brand new workspace, which is the thing that needs its own invite. Open the invitation email link again.
