Auto-ingest with a Local Watch Folder

Point HoldFast at your export folder once. Every render that lands there uploads itself, structure intact, while you keep cutting.

Updated

The export folder is where finished work lands, so HoldFast can watch it. Set it once and every render that arrives uploads itself while you keep working.

Set it up

  1. Open a project and click Local Watch Folder in the project header.
  2. Pick a folder from your computer (Chrome and Edge).
  3. Review the file tree. Check or uncheck individual files or whole folders; deselected folders collapse and are marked Ignored.
  4. Click Upload & Watch.

The selected files upload, the modal closes, and a watching indicator with the folder name appears in the project header.

What watching does

The folder is checked every 5 seconds. A new file uploads once its size holds steady across two checks, so a half-written render never ships. New subfolders are picked up automatically, and your local folder structure is recreated as project folders, so the organization on disk is the organization in HoldFast.

Uploaded files are watchable within seconds, with the sharpest quality finishing on its own in the background.

Keep it running, or stop it

Watching persists while you move around the app; come back to the project and the indicator is still there. If the tab was closed, a Resume button reconnects the folder in one click. To stop, click the next to the watching indicator.

If you cut in Premiere, the Premiere Pro plugin can push exports directly instead.

Questions

Which browsers support watch folders?

Chrome and Edge. The folder-access capability they provide does not exist in other browsers yet.

How does it avoid uploading a half-written export?

It waits for the file to finish. The folder is checked every 5 seconds, and a file only uploads once its size holds steady across two checks, which means your render completed.

Does watching survive closing the tab?

Navigation within HoldFast, yes: watching continues and the indicator reappears when you return to the project. A closed tab stops it, and a one-click Resume button reconnects the folder when you reopen.
