Pre-generate transcripts before your client opens the link

One click before you hit send, and every clip in the link opens with a readable, searchable transcript on any device your client owns.

Updated

Transcripts are generated in the browser, which keeps audio private but means someone's machine has to do the work. For client-facing links, that someone should be you, once, before you send.

Open the review link's manage page and use Generate transcripts. HoldFast queues every clip in the link and transcribes them one after another in your browser tab. Leave the tab open while it runs; a link of short clips finishes in a few minutes.

What the client gets

Every clip opens with a Transcript toggle next to the comments: readable and searchable on any device, phones included, with click-a-line-to-jump and select-text-to-comment. None of it asks anything of their hardware, because the generation already happened on yours.

When to bother

  • Interview and doc cuts, where the words are the work.
  • Any link going to a reviewer on a phone or a corporate laptop.
  • Links where you want caption exports available from day one.

A cut that is all music and picture does not need it. The mechanics of what reviewers can and cannot generate themselves are in Transcripts on a public review link.

Questions

Why pre-generate instead of letting the reviewer do it?

Generating needs a capable device and a first-run model download; reading needs nothing. Pre-baking on your machine means the client on a phone or a locked-down laptop still gets the full transcript experience.
