How to make a showreel

Build a cinematic, branded reel from your best clips, publish it to one link, and see exactly who watched.

Updated

A reel is the thing that gets you the next job, so it shouldn't look like a folder of MP4s. HoldFast turns your best clips into one cinematic, branded page you share with a single link. Your logo, your colours, playing edge to edge. And because it's a HoldFast link, you don't just send it into the void: you see who opened it, how far they watched, and whether it's making the rounds inside their company. Let's build one.

1. New reel

From the Reels tab, click + New Reel, name it, and open the editor. (Names are for you. The public link is a clean /s/… slug.)

2. Add and order your clips

Pull clips in from the gallery panel or + Add Clips, then drag to reorder. Order is everything in a reel. Lead with the shot that makes someone keep watching. Trim points you set on an asset are respected, so a reel can show just the money 8 seconds of a 2-minute piece.

3. Layout and branding

  • Columns: 1 to 4. One column reads like a cinema; four reads like a contact sheet.
  • Auto-advance: roll straight into the next clip when one ends.
  • Brand kit: logo, colours, background, font. Apply your workspace kit or override per reel. This is what makes the page feel like it lives on your own site (see Brand & customize your reel).

4. Publish

Click Publish to mint the public /s/… link. Drafts stay private until you do. Copy the link and send it.

Shortcut: one-clip reels. To fire off a single video without building a full reel, use the 🔗 Public Link toggle on that asset's page. It publishes the clip as a one-clip reel instantly and keeps it out of your Reels list.

5. Track it

This is the payoff. Open Insights and the reel's views resolve into companies and, where a viewer came through a personalized link, named people, each with an engagement score. "Did the reel land?" stops being a guess. Start with How to see who watched your video.
